My Baby Is Coming Home

Tomorrow!

I can't believe it, I really can't. I should have something witty and thoughtful to say and I just don't. It's beyond words really, positively beyond words.

The children and I went out to buy him some diapers this evening and got him a few toys as well. That was the first thing I thought of when I found out the superb news. We have newborn and size 1's but that just doesn't work for a 24 1/2 incher that's pushing 13 lbs. The children are exuberant, absolutely beside themselves exuberant, bouncing out of their skin with sheer joy that they finally get to be with their baby brother.

His colon is stretched out from being over-full for so long so basically things just hang out in their until there is enough to start forcing some out, hence the throwing up when he would eat well. We will continue irrigations 3 times a day for the foreseeable future to give his colon a rest and hopefully help it kick back into full gear. A happy colon means a happy tummy, a happy tummy means a happy Malachi. He's not up to his 'goal' feeds yet, but he's doing marvelously and Dr. Aiken feels that home is the best place for him to get his new little life figured out. So do we! He will have weekly weigh-ins and follow-up appointments aplenty and of course we will watch him like hawks and jump at every sneeze for a while. I can't wait.

My baby is coming home. I don't think I'll ever put him down.

Wait, how do you pump and take care of a newborn? I am elated to have that question to answer. I guess we'll be schooling through the summer this year to make up for all the lost school time lately. And now I am rambling because I am just so giddy I can't stop talking but I also can't rub two brain cells together.

Thank you all so much for your support, love, generosity, kindness, caring, prayers, and thoughts; it has meant more than we can ever say.

Ah, happy tears here! I am so thrilled for you and your family. I haven't been posting much but I check in every day to see what is new with Malachi. I'm so happy to come here today and find that he's home tomorrow! Yay!!

-Oh, and Amy I'm not sure if you know this is Angie. It says it will let me sign in but then it never does...or doesn't seem to anyway. Just didn't want you to think you had a scary stalker. :-)

I did the pumping with a newborn and toddler running around for almost one year! Now, I didn't have as many as you, but it's amazing what we can do when we have to. You'll find a way! It's totally worth it. I didn't know you were home schooling too. Wow! You'll have your hands full, but full of wonderful things.

What joyous news when you finally get to bring your baby home from the hospital! Take lots of pictures because he'll grow so fast! We just celebrated Olivia's first birthday and I can't believe it's been that long! Enjoy him:)
