I bought Sam some Craisin Trail Mix at Sam's Club a couple of days before he left for his new unit. I figured it would be a nice road food. I get a call a couple of nights after he's arrived in Milwaukee from a lovely computer voice saying, "Our records indicate you may have purchased Craisin Trail Mix with upc code ____. This product has been recalled and is not fit for consumption. Please return to your local Sam's Club for a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience." That's all it said.
So I immediately call Sam and ask if he's eaten any, "Not much I just opened it today. Probably 4 or 5 handfuls." Great! I tell him about the recall and that they didn't say why or what was going on just that it wasn't fit for consumption. After much research and detective work we find that it is part of the nationwide tainted peanut ordeal. I thought I would pass this on to everyone I know cause I sure never thought we'd be effected. It's always the other guy, right? Well not this time.
So far Sam is good and hasn't had any symptoms. He happened to be on an anti-biotic for strep throat at the time. Never thought I'd be grateful for strep throat. We are hoping and praying that was able to fend it off and that there won't be anything to come of this.
I can't get the links to work but here are the addresses anyway.
