Enjoy!
We left at 8:45, did our Friday Fundays for school, came home at 4:45 and were greeted by Sam. With a big smile on his face he chirped, "You want to go get some mexican food?" I shall never turn down mexican food.
We showered. After a day of hiking, one of which lead us to the beach, we really needed a good scrub down to be presentable! Before we left, they surprised me my gifts:
* a few gardening tools, including gloves (I currently have two big fat painful blisters from pulling weeds on both index fingers, and just today rid my flesh of the last of the ground in dirt from yard work over 1 week ago)
* a new, sturdier version, of my favorite tried and true cookbook (I have been heavily hinting about this for almost two years, the pay off was great!). There's nothing like a cookbook that will stay open by itself with plastic coated pages and covers. I am giddy.
We got home with very tired children, and while I put Addie down, the rest conspired with their sneaky Dad to get my keylime cheesecake, from The Cheesecake Factory, all dressed in it's birthday attire (whipped cream and candles). It was so cute.
The only lament, came from Zackary "I really wish we had 35 candles, not just 8 to make a '3' and a '5' for 35." When he heard my wish for 35 more years of being a mom and having great days like today with all my children around me, he was elated there were only 8 candles. Me too :)
Jacob followed with, "Mom, when we all grow up and have our own families I want us all to still live with you." What a sweetie and I would be all for it.
It was the perfect day for many reasons but mostly because I was present, fully present for every moment. What a treat and what a present.
