Gustav

Too much to say.  The kids and I are leaving for Huntsville, AL, today about 10:00.  Sam will head to command central in Natchez, MS, later this evening, after he finishes up some things around the house and yard.  He needs to be there tonight to be there for set up sunday a.m.. The feeling around here is definitely erie; boarded up buildings, "closed for hurricane" signs on major businesses, long lines for gas, lines of empty busses headed from surrounding states to New Orleans to assist in evacuation, and everyone chatting about where they are going.

We didn't find out that Sam wouldn't be evacuating with us until wednesday afternoon and that has thrown a nice monkey wrench into things for me.  It's just now hitting me that I will be doing this alone.  I am bringing the computer (faster and easier than trying to transfer everything) so I will have plenty of time for blogging :)

If I had one word to describe this whole experience it would be , surreal.  Who knows what we will come home to, but for now we are having an evacuation vacation :)  We will miss Daddy though.  There is a great NASA museum in Huntsville that our LASM membership is reciprocal to; I am sure we will be living there.

Deep breath, and ... we're off!

I sure hope it won't be like Katrina! That's got to be scary. Good luck on your 'vacation'!
