We were so excited because he actually had a poopy diaper at about 4ish Monday evening. It was suspiciously small and he hadn't had an irrigation since 3 am Monday morning. We were watching closely too as it had the look of stool that was beginning to be infected with the dreaded bacteria. Did you know that stool has a look? Come on over, we'll show ya! He hasn't eaten much at all today and has been sleeping a great deal. Those are not good for our little guy as it generally means there is something more serious up with his bowels. Sure enough when we woke him up after several hours of not eating and he couldn't drink his bottle, we knew something had to be done. He did manage to put a little something in his diaper, but not enough to do the job. Time for plan B. Plan A was of course wait it out and see how the Botox worked.
Plan B, size 10 mm dilator followed by size 11 mm dilator. No dice. A little gas after the 11mm, but not enough to be okay. Plan C, after dilation insert tube and drain the stool. Bingo! It came rushing right out and we almost passed right out. Stinky nasty dark brown enterocolitis stool. Plan D, follow tube with an irrigation. And now we know that Botox isn't all it's cracked up to be. For our little guy anyway. Our poor little guy.
We'll keep you posted as we know things. As you can see it's minute by minute around these here parts.
Random thought: Why does my computer yell at me every time I type the word poopy? Are computers more refined than me? Is poopy not really a word? Come on, poopy. How long have you been saying it?

If enterocolitis is a word, then poopy is definitely a word.
