A Bit of Thievery

You know when something is just so perfect you have to steal it? Maybe you don't, but I do.

Say for instance you are sitting in a doctors office long ago, before you were even married. My children would say, "You mean back in ancient times Mom?" "Yes children back in ancient times when Mommy was a teenager." Anyhow ... you are flipping mindlessly through a magazine of no importance whatsoever, and there it is, the perfect picture. This perfect picture that embodies all you ever dreamed your life would be. A picture of a mother kneeling on the ground in a lush and beautiful garden next to her harvesting basket with such a peaceful and joyful smile. Next to this fine mother is her perfectly poised princess of a daughter smiling up at her while she teaches her all she knows about everything good in this life.

What would you do if something so alluring called to you? Well, I stole it. 5 finger discount all the way. Tore that baby right out and hid it in my purse. It always has a special place in our home and it is almost my favorite piece of art ever, definitely 2nd place. Why? Because, long ago in a galaxy far, far away, I knew what the most important thing I would ever do would be, and I still remember. It's the reason I started collecting children's books well before I was married. It's the reason I choose so many things that keep motherhood at the forefront of my life. It's the reason I am. I remember.

Yesterday I was reading my cousin's blog and something she wrote spoke directly to my soul. Well, you can only imagine that I just had to steal it. So here you have it, my first brave effort in the land of plagiarism. Hats off to you Bronwyn!

I do not believe that God causes the suffering mankind endures, but in His perfect way He can turn this suffering into great strength if we let Him. It can make us bitter and hard, or it can make us compassionate, soft and service-minded.
Dear God, please let me be the latter.

We are not products of what we alone make of our lives. ...... Further back than we even know to how to look, our ideas, our beliefs, our characters, our values were being lived out and passed down by those who came before us. In my case there are many kind, faithful, hardworking men and women who passed on a legacy I am proud to own and perpetuate. I know not everyone is so situated. I feel keenly the weight of responsibility of such a legacy.
Dear God, please help me to be a good mother.

Details of al things Botoxy in nature to come sometime soon.
