After violin lessons in Glendale, the children and I headed a bit further south to the Milwaukee area in order to get some pictures for our Flat Reeslyn project. Suddenly, my phone rang. "Hello. I was wondering if you feel like playing today?" said the charming prince on the other end of the line. The slightly less charming and somewhat frazzled woman said, "What? I just passed. I mean. Hold on. Okay, I just needed to turn around. What? I am trying to get back to the Petit Ice Center to get a picture and I don't have a clue where I am. What are you talking about?" The amazingly calm and cheerful prince replied, "You know it's our anniversary today. I thought we could go to the Domes. We have the free tickets from the USO and then I thought we could splurge on some mexican food." With that last statement she was putty in his hands. His directions were precisely tailored for her inability to navigate a non-predetermined and unmapquested course, "I'll meet you at the Harley Davidson Museum (our next stop for pictures) and we'll go from there." "Perfect!" she declared with as much elation as is appropriate for not needing to figure out how to get to the Coast Guard Base, to pick up said prince, from her current (and completely unknown) coordinates.
It might not sound like much to some, but it was the perfect way to celebrate 10 years of marriage, just perfect. Mexican food turned into Subway sandwiches, and the hope of a stop at Kopp's (you'll just have to come visit if you want to know!) on the way home, melted away with the snores of sleeping children. Pizza movie night (a regular tradition on Thursdays with homemade pizza and a movie) rounded out the night with a joyful realization that I had just picked up Robots at the library the day before. The children were so happy to spend the day with us as a celebration of being a family. What a day. Thanks to you my charming prince.
I have reflected often lately upon our conversation 10 years and a bit ago when I asked you, "What do you think our life will be like together?" Your reply was not quite what a young bride to be was expecting, or hoping, to hear, "I think it will be hard, but worth it." I remember giving you a bit of an ear chewing for that one. Thanks for marrying me anyway ;) Looking back over the last 10 years, and all that has transpired in our life, all I can say is; you were right, again! The Lord certainly blessed me with my perfectly charming prince in all the best ways to help me be my best me.
Here's to an eternity more of "hard but worth it"

although it's nice that you got to visit ancient adobe dwellings in Arizona. I think you would have had more fun visiting cousins in Arizona instead. Thanks again for the awesome flat Reeslyn pictures and book!!! and if you ever need me to repay the favor we would love taking flat Zackary, flat Jacob, flat Ellie and flat Addie around the real Arizona!
Happy Belated Anniversary and Easter. Love seeing the pictures. Zac, Jacob, Ellie and Addie are getting so big. Miss you guys. Thanks for shareing.
