Hiatus?

No. Just a busy Mom trying to get ready to start school. We made it! I took some adorable pictures, with our newly charged battery (yay for the new charger!), and will post them later. I am still missing some items (our awesome wall maps that the children have been dying for, among other things) and am anxious to find them, missing supplies or not, the day was perfect. Everyone of my sweet children has been so excited for school to start that they have actually been begging for it. Is it not strange that for the past few weeks I have been saying, "Not yet." in response to, "Mom, can we please start school." or "Mom, when are we ever going to start school?" Really? Yep, really.

We have some exciting adventures planned this year but our favorite is definitely; Friday Fundays. We will be meeting up with two other families, for a total of 12 children. Each day will consist of separate classes (1 1/2 hours) lead by the three Moms; playgroup (birth to 2), pre-school (3-4), art & literature (5 and up), free play (1/2 hour), picnic lunch, and then we will head off to one of many field tip and museum adventures for the remainder of the day. We will also be holding a Presentation Day once a month where the children can present anything of their choosing to an excited audience. On 5th Fridays we will go to local nursing home and perform a couple of songs before visiting and playing games with the local residents for a while, leaving with a song as well. Oh and of course, holiday theme parties, how could I forget those :)

After having such an amazing homeschool network in LA, I was sure it would be difficult here. Oh ye of little faith. I still lurk on the LA group, and secretly wish we could be back there. Okay, that sounds a little stalkerish. Anyway, it's the truth! I keep in contact with friends there and have slight jealousy issues when I hear of their amazing activities, remembering so clearly the amazingness of it all. Well I have learned, again, that you get out of things what you put into them. I have met wonderful people who were eager to hear all of my LA tales, and who are more than happy to implement our own versions of them. What we came up with is more than I thought our family would have here, as far as homeschooling, and I am so grateful. I am constantly reminded that the Lord always puts us exactly where we are and that is the perfect place. O ye of little faith.

Happy 2009 - 2010 school year! May everyday be as perfect as today ... as long as I remember that the perfection is already there, in my beautiful children. Happy school days here we come!

I just have to say you are amazing!! I think home schooling has so many beautiful benefits. We are now in the process of begining to look at schools for Kanyon. It scares me a little because he is already so bright and sometimes regular school is not enough. You are awesome!! :)
