Pet Rocks, Pledge of Allegiance, Yellow Jackets, School Nurse, and Hospitals

All in a days work around here my friends.

Ah, what a great morning. Happily moving through devotional we walk over to the flag and pledge allegiance to our flag and country. I turn to get my resource for our daily gospel lesson and hear serious screaming coming from Addie. "What could have possibly happened?" zips through my mind as I turn and run to her. It's obviously her head. After much time, and finally convincing her that if she stops screaming her head will hurt less, there is quiet and we are able to move on. Turns out that Ellie's pet rock was visiting with us at school yesterday. Said pet rock was so excited after the Pledge of Allegiance that she just needed to "do a flip straight up in the air" (a flip in the air that went not so straight and was stopped by a certain precious two year old's head). Keep in mind this is a pet rock the size of a baseball. Yeah, there's a nice goose egg there; purpleish blue in all it's glory. She can't lay down on her back at all unless there is a pillow or blanket propped under her neck with no contact to her head. Man those pet rocks! Pet rock is now grounded, literally, nothing vertical for her anymore.

Forward an eensy weensy bit. "Recess time!" (aka - mom needs a shower time). Shower, ahhh. Hmm, they are playing so nicely I think I'll take a second to check my e-mail. Oh look they are having so much fun I will see if anyone has blogged today. "Mom! Mom! Mom! Ellie is getting stung all over by bees!" Screaming, crying, more screaming and crying. Several bites, the discovery they are yellow jackets, some vitamin C, a calming shower, and cold packs later, there is quiet again. "Mom, we need to tell everyone about this", declares my cute little bit up princess. "Okay sweetie, how about I put it on the blog." "Yes, that's good. But we need to call Daddy and Grandma too. Right now Mom. Right Now." Calls were made. Big brother made a hospital bed for the sick. I was declared the school nurse. AND we still got nearly a full days curriculum in. How did I do that???

Any curiosity as to how the princess found the bees? Well you see there was an invisible tiger and she was seeking refuge in the jungle (an island of grass surrounded by our driveway that has another island of foliage, animal habitats, stumps carved into seats, and various other enchanting things you'd find on an island jungle). Apparently the bees had the same idea and weren't too happy she chose their piece of wood for her perch. Ouch, they got her good!

Darling, darling, darling........I love those kids and momma bee keeper as well. Hats off to you Amy for doing such a soup-er job.

Tell Ellie that Grandma sent special fairy dust sprinkles in the air to her and for her to give her brothers and sister a special hug from me to them.

Love you all, Grandma Fisher
