And the winner is me! For the millionth doctor visit in two weeks time I get .... Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, google it, it's awesome (or grotesque and disturbing you decide)! So I am blessed with this rare condition and while the severity of the systemic infection (staff/strep) I am battling is great, it is known that Stevens-Johnson Syndrome is the more pressing issue of the moment. So I am off all anti-biotics and on a fabulous mega dose of steroids to make my body stop killing itself because of the anti-biotics to kill the systemic infection. Whew, I am out of breath! It's exciting really, I have decided that I will lock all the doors and become a shut in. I think I have enough food in the house for the kids and I will just sit and watch my blisters grow. Anybody want to come? BYOB and popcorn, it's gonna be great!!
My heart you ask, well it's beating right now and that's about all we know at the moment. It's one of those fun wait and see games, you know like Russian Rullet (sp?) (no I am not going to look it up in the dictionary). The plan is to keep breathing and living (and itching) and get all of these icky toxic drugs out of my system and then go live with some Buddist monks and allow peace to heal my heart and rid my body of this un-invited guest.
Or maybe ... rent a fabulous farmhouse in Belgium (WI, that is) and sit in my garden of fresh garlic and eat nothing but, that ought to kill something. But then someone would need to come live in this house and nobody wants it. "It's so perfect there must be something wrong with it." Yep, an actual comment from a potential buyer. Maybe I should let Addie paint the walls next time she reaches into one of her poppy diapers, that's got to be the ticket. Don't worry, I'll post pictures.
You know some people knock sarcasm I just think it's fantastic and I happen to be fabulously talented at it! Not to freak anyone out, my case is mild and we seem to have caught it early enough. The real plan is to; stop all the anti-biotics, do mega steroids, get the echocardiogram, and wait and see ...

Holy Cow Amy!!!
I for one enjoy your sarcasm by the way.
Okay, so I googled this weird thing. I'm confused! Have you had allergic reactions to meds before? I thought you just recently got put on the antibiotics and you were feeling crappy before that weren't you?
Oh my, at any rate I sure hope they get you fixed up. You aren't going to end up in the hospital over it are you? Let me know if you need anything.
I'm sure glad Sam will be back soon for a few weeks! And that house is going to sell!! Maybe you should raise the price so people don't think it's too good to be true?
Hospital? Who knows? Not right now, call me later ;) I have never had reactions to meds but apparently Bactrum (sp?) is a sulfa (sp?) drug and it's not uncommon to have an allergic reaction to it. Stevens-Johnson is one type of allergic reaction and is rare but common with Bactrum, if that makes any sense??!! It's pretty gnarly and luckily I went in today. I have actually had it since that visit last week when you watched the kids for me. They thought stopping the Bactrum would do the trick so they didn't mention anything to me about it. They were really sorry today and she had the Dr come in for a second opinion. Long story short, I should have been off everything and on steroids last Tuesday.
Yes, yes, and yes to the feeling awful and have been for a long time now. That's the biggest bummer, I felt awesome the first three days on the anti-biotics, it was killing the infection and boy howdy did I feel great! then these itchy little bumps start and well now here we are. Right back to feeling awful and now we've added a new thing into the mix. There is nothing they can do at this point because of the Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. Or at least that's what I have been told. I am going to start eating my garlic again (6-10 cloves a day), can't hurt, might help, and it gives me an excuse to have guacamole around :)
Anyway, it's all about the steroids right now to stop the progression and hopefully get my body to stop killing itself off. I am itchy and have nasty blisters - Carolyn said, "It looks like small pox or something. Will it spread to your kids and more on you if they get popped?" The answer to that is, no, but they are gross and itch really bad. Not to mention the million gnat bites we all have right now too. It's just a blast over here!
Maybe if we ask $250K someone will lowball us at $219K, now that would be cool!! It will be nice to have Sam home for a couple of weeks. I can't wait, hopefully I am still alive :)
Amy I am so sorry. SJS is serious, I am glad you caught it early, I am surprised they did not put you in the hospital. I hope you start feeling better soon. I am so glad Sam is going be home, even if it is a short visit. We keep you guys in our prayers and If I were closer I would be bring over dinner tonight! Stay strong!
I just found the greatest typo! If only her diapers were full of poppies :) Now that would be cool, we could make a lot of money and I don't.
