Happy Birthday Jacob!

I need to figure out a way to stop time because my children keep disobeying me when I tell them to stop growing :o)  Jacob is especially disobedient as his follow up is always, "Yes Mom, I will keep growing and I will eat even more vegetables so I can grow even faster!"  He thinks this is funny, and I do laugh, but really I am just dumbfounded at where the time has gone and why he is not my plump and juicy little butterball anymore (wish I had pictures but that was before our digital age began)

So, despite all of my attempts, Jacob is a 5 year old boy now and he had a great birthday dinner :o)  The missionaries and Dallin came over and the Backyardigans decorated the house. We had blower and balloon wars galore and there was no shortage of balloon fighting machines! Stick the bow-tie on Pablo was the favorite though and you'll see by his face that he won with Pablo's new bellybutton.  Pizza, watermelon, peas, corn on the cob, and chocolate soymilk were his delight and his special request blueberry cake with whipped cream and fresh blueberries on top was truly delicious, oh yes, and the strawberry swirl ice cream.

The blueberry cake was a first for me and a true culinary masterpiece that took 4 and 1/2 hours to make, but he was worth every second of the, "Wow, that's a short time!  Good job Mom."  I have to say I was extremely happy to oblige because his first request for a chicken frosting cake (flavor not decoration) had me stewing for weeks!

Jacob's birthday tradition is a family trip to the beach and for timing reasons we weren't able to pull it off on his birthday but it will be coming soon so we will post on our adventures at the beach later.  Happy birthday our big 5 year old!

Your family sure knows how to party! I love all the pictures - its so cool to see how your family has grown. One of these days (before we are transferred yet again) we have to get together. This is twice now since Kodiak that we have been fairly close - one of these days :o) Take care!
