This morning. I say morning, but what I mean by morning is the middle of the night. My children wake up entirely too early and they just won't stop it! Anyway, this morning as I am snuggling with Addie and Ellie on the couch before deciding it's actually time to start the day, we had an interesting conversation.
Me - "So girls your room is pretty messy huh?" silence "Well, we had a busy weekend but today is the day to get it cleaned up. Okay."
long silence
A - "Yeah, the bad fairy did it Mom."
E - "And if the bad fairy did it the good fairy needs to come and fix it."
A - "Yes, the good fairy will come and make our room all nice and clean and wonderful. And it will be so hilarious." (hilarious is her new favorite word - there are many hilarious things going on around here lately.)
Me - laughing, "Well I guess we better go find that good fairy. Do you know where she lives?"
E - "Far away. Far, far away. It will take her a long time to get here."
A - "Yeah, a long long time. She is far away."
Me - "Well maybe you could help her out and start working so she doesn't have so much to do when she finally makes it here."
E - "No that wouldn't be okay. The good fairy needs to do it to earn her wings."
Me - "Is that why she will take so long to get here because she doesn't have her wings and can't fly yet?"
E - "Yep. Now it's time to stop talking about this Mom."
And that, my friends, is hilarious!
Update: I was invited to a tea party just a bit ago and was able to disguise my cleaning up as helpful party guest tidying up for her hostess. The fairy will still earn her wings, or so I am told.
